Lesly Kahn & Company Teen Acting Camp
(for actors ages 12-18)
Camp includes three classes: The Comedy Intensive, Audition Competition and Improvisation. Actors may choose to take one, two or all three classes.
The Comedy Intensive is held on Friday nights and is taught by LK&Co. faculty. The Comedy Intensive demystifies the process of acting and auditioning for film and television, familiarizes us with actors' individual strengths and challenges, and provides actors with a sense of community. We focus on technical and organic aspects of both single and multi-camera situation comedy, as well as other genres such as drama, action, adventure, romantic comedy, etc. In addition, we explore issues relating to auditioning, on-camera acting, marketing and the business of the business (including Lesly’s beliefs and practices with regard to creating a successful acting career in film and television).
Audition Competition is held on Saturdays and is taught by LK&Co. faculty. This is where actors get to show off everything they're learning in the Intensive. We post material the night before class; you prepare it and do it in class the next day just as you would perform a real audition -- sometimes on-camera. We might adjust you, call you back, take you to a "work session," or even "network."
Audition Competition is all about exercising your auditioning muscles. (Pre-requisite: you must be currently enrolled in or have previously taken our Comedy Intensive in order to participate in Audition Competition.)
Improvisation is held on Sundays and covers the basics of organic improvisation. Improv is an essential part of every actor’s toolbox. (cont'd)
